Harivansh Rai Bachchan was born in 1942 in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. He married Teji Bachchan who is known for her activism in social change causes. Bachchan earned his academic qualifications at Sherwood College Nainital as well as Kirori Mal College University of Delhi before starting out his film career with Mrinal Sen’s film Bhuvan Shome as voice actor in 1969; soon thereafter his popularity skyrocketed through films like Zanjeer Deewaar Sholay as an angry young man figure on screen!
